A Kentucky mom who volunteered with a group that searches for missing people is now a missing person herself, authorities said.
Andrea Michelle Knabel, 37, was last seen walking near Audubon Park between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. on August 13, according to the Louisville Metro Police Department. Knabel had reportedly just left the home of a relative.
According to the Louisville Courier-Journal, Knabel phoned a friend at about 1:30 a.m. to ask for a ride. Investigators said no one has heard from her since, and calls to her phone go to voicemail.
The Facebook page Finding Andrea describes Knabel as a single mother of two boys, ages six and eight. It also says she is a "dedicated member" of Missing in America, an organization that works to locate missing children and adults.
Knabel's friend, Maricia Kidd, told Louisville's WAVE-TV the missing mom recently suffered setbacks, including getting laid off from work, and her car getting totaled in a hit-and-run accident.
In a Facebook video (above), private investigator Tracy Leonard said that before Knabel vanished, she was "pretty upset, [and] pretty wound up when she left walking."
Leonard added, "We are looking at a couple [of] different avenues and checking leads out daily. We have no indication at this point that leads us to believe that there is any foul play, but we are still very early in our investigation … We're just going to continue to look at what facts we discover."
The Missing in America group reportedly said Andrea is the first member of their team to have ever gone missing.
Andrea Knabel is a white female with light brown hair. She is about 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs approximately 190 pounds. She was reportedly last seen wearing a light-colored tank top and white shorts.
