ODESSA, TX — Authorities have hunted down and apprehended a Texas father who was on the run for allegedly choking, punching and super gluing his daughter’s eyes and mouth.
On September 16, the 14-month-old girl’s mom called for help to the motel room where she and Johnnie Lee Carter were staying with the toddler and a 2-month-old, the Odessa Police Department wrote in an affidavit.
Carter, 29, had flown into a rage and covered the newborn with blankets and pillows because she wouldn’t stop crying. The 180-pound, 5’9” dad then turned on the older sister. He strangled her with one hand while with the other he punched her ribs and head.
To top off the assault, alleged authorities, Carter spread Krazy Glue on the toddler’s eyes, mouth and face before he fled the city.
The little girl was transported to a hospital and her current condition is unknown.
On September 24, detectives tracked down Carter, who was previously convicted of domestic violence and violating a restraining order, hundreds of miles away in an El Paso motel.
Police expect to extradite Carter back to Odessa, where he faces a first-degree-felony charge of injury to a child causing serious bodily injury.
