New court documents claim that Brad Pitt allegedly “choked” one of his children he shares with Angelina Jolie and “grabbed” Jolie by the head during a September 2016 flight from France to Los Angeles.
Jolie, 47, alleges Pitt, 58, was drunk and poured beer and red wine on her and their six kids, who were then between the ages of 8 and 15, according to the Washington Post.
An FBI investigation also rendered no charges would be filed. However, in a counter complaint filed by Jolie in October 2022, regarding a French winery the couple once co-owned, Jolie detailed her side of what happened during the now infamous “plane fight,” NPR reported.
According to The New York Times, Jolie, Pitt, and their six children were traveling from their winery, Chateau Miraval, to Los Angeles.
“Pitt's aggressive behavior started even before the family got to the airport, with Pitt having a confrontation with one of the children. After the flight took off, Jolie approached Pitt and asked him what was wrong,” the filing says. “Pitt accused her of being too deferential to the children and verbally attacked her.”
“He pulled her into the bathroom and began yelling at her,” it continued. “Pitt grabbed Jolie by the head and shook her, and then grabbed her shoulders and shook her again before pushing her into the bathroom wall.”
When one of their children defended Jolie, Pitt allegedly lashed out.
“Pitt lunged at his own child and Jolie grabbed him from behind to stop him. To get Jolie off his back, Pitt threw himself backwards into the airplane's seats injuring Jolie's back and elbow," the filing continued. "The children rushed in and all bravely tried to protect each other. Before it was over, Pitt choked one of the children and struck another in the face.”
A spokesperson for Pitt said that Jolie’s accusations were all false and that by continuing to bring them up, she was doing “harm” to their family.
"Brad has owned everything he’s responsible for from day one — unlike the other side — but he’s not going to own anything he didn’t do," Pitt's lawyer, Anne Kiley, told the Associated Press, as reported by Yahoo.
After the couple split, a judge agreed to give them 50/50 custody of the children but an appeals court disqualified the judge because of a possible conflict of interest that hadn't been disclosed, according to NPR.
