A$AP Rocky is in police custody after being arrested at Los Angeles International Airport on the morning of April 20, 2022.

According to TMZ, the 33-year-old rapper, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, flew into LAX from Barbados on a private jet after vacationing with his girlfriend, singer Rihanna, in her native country.

Rihanna was with Mayers at the time of his arrest and police have a search warrant to inspect Mayers’ Los Angeles home, NBC News reported.

In a statement by the Los Angeles Police Department, posted on Twitter, Mayer was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon in connection to a November 2021 shooting.

Mayers is accused of shooting a person with a handgun, in Hollywood, and then fleeing the scene, with two others. The police said the victim had a minor injury as a result.

This isn’t the first time the “The God Hour” rapper has had a run-in with the law. In 2019, he was infamously detained in a Swedish jail for a month, after he and his entourage assaulted a man. Mayers claimed it was self-defense but the high court in Sweden found him guilty. He was given a two-year suspended sentence, which meant he could avoid prison if he did not commit any other crime during a two-year probation period.

A$AP Rocky and Rihanna are expecting their first child. While a due date is not known, Cosmopolitan has reported she is in her third trimester.
