Police Hunt Mom & Boyfriend In The Abduction Of Kamila Cabrera, Age 4

HAYDEN, AZ — Authorities are on the hunt for four-year-old Kamila Cabrera, who went missing from her grandmother’s home during a visit with her mom on August 10, 2018.

Police believe Jimena Corona Perez, 25; and her boyfriend, Jose Astorga-Valenzuela, 22; took Kamila and may have absconded with her to Mexico.

Perez is Kamila’s mother, but she did not have custody of the child. The alleged kidnapping occurred during a visit to Perez’s mother’s home in Winkleman that was approved by Thomas Cabrera, Kamila’s father.

After disappearing, Perez reportedly left a note declaring that Kamila was her child and she was taking her away.

Authorities stated that both Astorga-Valenzuela and Perez were in the United States illegally. According to a Hayden Police Department press release, “Officers investigation revealed Astorga-Valenzuela was a Mexican National who had been turned over to ICE in September of 2017 after being arrested and booked into Pinal County Jail on charges of Management of a Criminal Syndicate, Unlawful Flight, Conspiracy, Facilitation, and weapons charges.”

Investigators believe Kamila is at “significant risk” and they are concerned for her safety, which drives the urgency of their investigation.

Hayden Police Chief Tamatha Villar said, “We will continue to work with our local and federal partners to do everything we can to ensure we bring Kamila home safely. We ask anyone with information on the whereabouts or welfare of Kamila to contact us immediately.”

Authorities added that Valenzuela may go by the name Daniel Guzman and have family in both California and San Luis, Mexico. He also has two tattoos: one on his left arm of a saint atop a stack of money; and another on his right arm of a crown with the initials JM.
