The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) and the Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office are hoping someone will come forward to help them find 5-year-old Summer Moon-Utah Wells. On June 15, 2021, investigators said Summer was reported missing around 6:30 p.m. Within 24 hours the Amber Alert for Tennessee was activated.
According to News Nation, Summer’s parents said she was helping her mother and grandmother plant flowers before going inside their Rogersville home to play with her toys. Summer's mother, Candus Wells, later yelled downstairs to her daughter but didn't hear back and discovered she was missing.
Her family believes she was abducted.
TBI said thousands of acres were searched looking for the missing girl. Hawkins County Sheriff Ronnie Lawson said, “We have not ruled anything out. Everything is possible" but that there is no direct evidence pointing to abduction or foul play, according to reporting by News Nation.
On June 22, 2021, according to published reports, Summer’s mother took a polygraph. Donald Wells claimed his wife passed the test.
Authorities said in 2009 Summer’s aunt vanished without a trace from Wisconsin. The FBI said Rose Marie Bly, Summer’s mother’s sister, disappeared from St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin. She was 21 years old at the time and was last seen leaving her residence. At the time, according to agents, she was heading to Cushing, Wisconsin.
Bly’s vehicle was found five days after she disappeared. It was located in a parking lot used by truck drivers about 30 miles away from her home.
Reports suggest at this point, the two cases involving both missing family members are not connected.
Bly has brown hair, brown eyes. She stands 5 feet tall and weighed 110 pounds at the time of her disappearance. Bly has two red cherries tattooed on her right ankle. Her ears and navel are pierced.
As for Summer, she stands 3 feet tall and weighs 40 pounds. She has blonde hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a pink shirt, grey pants and may not have been wearing shoes.
If you’ve seen Summer, please call the Hawkins County Sheriff's Office at 423-272-7121 or the TBI at 1-800-TBI-FIND. If you know where Bly could be, please reach out to the FBI directly.
