September 30, 2020 was the last time anyone saw or heard from 19-year-old Sydney West. She vanished without a trace from San Francisco, California, near the Golden Gate Bridge, a popular tourist spot for many.
Reports said West would often visit the bridge for runs, walks, and to take pictures. She was last seen in the area around 6:45 a.m. There was reportedly a rideshare driver who dropped her off at the location.
Sydney's father, who lives on the east coast in North Carolina, said he saw the video of his daughter just before she went missing. He knows there were a lot of people on the bridge and believes someone out there must know something. Early on in the case, Sydney’s parents Kimbery and Jay West also issued this statement:
“We know that there was a lot of pedestrian, car and bicycle traffic on the Golden Gate Bridge the morning Sydney disappeared. Someone may have seen something — any piece of information could help lead us to Sydney."
Sydney was living across the country after recently attending U.C. Berkeley, reports add.
Sydney stands 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs around 130 pounds. On the day she was last seen, Sydney was wearing a light teal hoodie, dark leggings, and Vans sneakers with tropical print on them. She was carrying a black backpack and her light brown hair was pulled back in a bun. It's possible she was wearing eyeglasses.
