This case is a true mystery.
Tyson Jones, who was last seen in Philadelphia, PA, disappeared sometime between May 2017 and September 2020, from what authorities can gather. The timeline is fuzzy because his mother, Kristi Gardner, moved away with him to live with a friend in 2017. Once Gardner moved, she communicated with her family through texts or online chats. Diane Gardner, Tyson's maternal grandmother, said she often asked Kristi about Tyson’s whereabouts and that her daughter seemed to always have an answer or an excuse as to where he was.
When Tyson moved away with his mother, the family did not expect that they would never hear from him again. According to NCMEC's report, the last time Tyson was physically seen was in early May 2017.
It wasn't until Kristi passed away in September 2020 when the whole family was asking, "Where is Tyson?"
Tyson's father, Tyshan Jones, died when Tyson was two. Though this early loss was sad, his family remembers him as a good-natured and happy child who loved Mickey Mouse and the Ninja Turtles. Shakeya Jones, Tyshan’s sister said, “He was just a super happy kid. He had these super big, wide eyes. He loved running around and loved smiling."
When Tyson vanished he stood 3 feet tall and weighed around 35 pounds. He is known to blink frequently, according to his grandmother and he may have possible issues with his teeth. NCMEC created an age enhanced photo of what Tyson may look like at the age of 7. His head was shaved just before he went missing.
Shakeya is begging for anyone to come forward with information, “I ask that anyone with a heart, anyone with a sound mind, body and soul, if you see my nephew, get in contact with someone. To Tyson, we will never give up on you until we bring you home. We love you.”
If you have any information about where Tyson could be or what may have happened to him, please contact: 1-800-THE-LOST or the Philadelphia Police Department at 215-686-8477.
