It's been more than two years since Ellie Green thought her mother Angela Green passed away at a local hospital. But Ellie learned weeks later, the death information about the 51-year-old was not accurate. It's possible her mother is still alive and Ellie has been on the hunt for the truth ever since.
After learning Angela may not have died in a Kansas hospital Ellie reportedly hit the ground in her own personal investigation. She soon found out a copy of her mother's death certificate did not exist in Kansas. This led her to file a formal missing persons report with police in February 2020.
"I was anxious. I was shaking. I didn’t have an appetite. I couldn’t sleep," Ellie told Fox4KC about the discovery.
The inconsistent stories Ellie was learning about her mom were reportedly from her own father, Geoff Green. The last time Angela Green was seen alive was on June 19, 2019.
According to a Facebook page dedicated to finding Angela, a detailed post says, "Ellie Green, a student at the University of Kansas, had just gotten home from having studied abroad in Italy. Ellie and Angela got into an argument and Angela asked her to leave, so Ellie left to stay with her boyfriend's family. She stated their argument was not a serious one, although her mother had never asked her to leave the house before."
It wasn't long after that argument when Ellie claims only a few days later her father told her Angela was admitted into a local hospital. Although he told Ellie her mother died, she says there was never a funeral for her mom.
According to Fox4KC, three search warrants have since been executed and more than 150 leads have come in to help authorities find Green. Ellie reportedly told the local news that authorities searched one of their family homes in Lawrence and the home's backyard, but Angela was not found. Reports say the property was purchased by Green after Angela vanished.
“I don’t know if she’s just out dumped in the woods somewhere, buried on someone’s property and they don’t even know. There are tons of possibilities that have gone through my head, but I don’t think she’s alive anymore," Ellie said.
According to published reports Geoff Green has not been charged in Angela's disappearance. Police consider this a missing persons investigation.
