BOURBON, MO — A six-year-old boy who has been missing from Bourbon, Missouri, since August 2018 has been found hiding in the crawlspace of an attic.
Braedence Jones was found on Tuesday hiding with his mother, Aubrey Ferguson, and her boyfriend, Woodrow Ziegler. The crawlspace had reportedly been nailed shut.
He was located after officers got a tip from the United States Marshals Service Midwest Violent Fugitive Task Force and executed a search warrant at a home on Highway N at around 4:30 P.M. in Laclede County on January 8.
Police say that Braedence went to visit Ferguson on August 3, 2018 and was never returned to his father, Ryan Jones. Braedence lived with Jones, but police say he shared custody with Ferguson.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol then issued an endangered person advisory in October and a warrant was issued for Ferguson for felony child abduction.
Multiple agencies, including the Camden County Sheriff’s Department, were involved in the hunt for Ferguson. There were reported sightings in the city of Stoutland and Laclede County, according to Fox News.
Ziegler is a felon, and was ordered by the court to not be around Braedence. Ziegler’s criminal history was reportedly a reason why the Missouri Highway Patrol issued an endangered person advisory.
Ferguson was arrested and is being held on a warrant for child abduction on a $200,000 bond. Authorities say that more charges are likely to be forthcoming against Ferguson and Ziegler.
On Tuesday evening, Jones’ girlfriend Breanne Dominguez posted Braedence’s reunion with his father on social media.
“OUR LITTLE BOY IS HOME. GOD IS SOOOO GOOD!!!!” Breanne Marie Dominguez wrote in a Facebook post. “Thank you all for the prayers, shared, phone calls and etc. we don’t know how to thank everyone enough. Our hearts are so full of joy atm. Just thank you everyone.”
