Young mother Shania Kelis Green was found dead at a house party just a month after she turned eighteen. At around 1 a.m. on the morning of Dec. 29, 2023, she was found dead on the back patio area of the house in Lawrenceville, Georgia, reported Atlanta News First. The homeowner wasn’t there at the time, but the party was held by the homeowner’s son.
Green had apparently been the victim of a “gunshot wound to the head area”. Sade Long, Green’s aunt, revealed that her niece was shot and killed by a stray bullet, according to WSFA. Several shots were fired outside the house and one hit Green.
PEOPLE revealed that police have not identified a suspect in Green’s death.
Long set up a GoFundMe page to cover Green’s funeral and memorial expenses. She stated on the page that Shania was “known for her beautiful, infectious smile and her laughter. She had such a positive energy that she brought everywhere she went.”
Long also shared that Shania was usually found taking care of her 7-month-old son, and that she was “figuring out who she was as a young lady and as a new mother, navigating life with grace, compassion and kindness.” She observed that Shania “truly left an impact on everyone she has met”.
