Angela Dawn Flores, a 38-year-old mother of seven, confessed to killing three of her children on Mother’s Day with the help of her teenage son. Around 7:40 a.m. on May 8, 2022, Los Angeles police were called to Flores’s residence in West Hills after receiving a report of an assault with a deadly weapon.

The police found the three children 8-year-old Nathan Yanez, 10-year-old Kevin Yanez, and 12-year-old Natalie Flores — dead, according to ABC 7 Los Angeles. It appeared the children had been dead for several hours.

Angela was immediately taken into custody. She was first brought to a hospital for a mental evaluation before being arrested, reported Fox 11. She had been exhibiting bizarre behavior before the killing.

Prisila Canales, a woman who lives two doors down from the Flores family, told the Los Angeles Daily News that Angela was heard shouting, “I’m being abused by my family!” around 10:30 p.m. on the night before the killing. Angela then went into a neighbor’s yard while clutching her Bible and lit a candle.

Police confirmed the 16-year-old who assisted with the killing was Angela’s son, and both mother and son were arrested on suspicion of murder for the children’s death. The mother’s bail was set at $6 million, and the teenager, who has yet to be charged, is being held at Sylmar Juvenile Hall without bail. The Los Angeles Times reported that no other suspects are currently being sought.

In addition to the teenage suspect and the three murdered children, Flores has three other children who live out of state with their fathers, and they were not present when the murders took place.
