Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department
On Aug. 31, 2022, Hend Bustami was arrested by Las Vegas police at the Harry Reid International Airport for allegedly leaving a Chili’s restaurant at the airport without paying her bill and violating the airport’s rules.
According to KNTV, she was belligerent with the police officers, saying they were harassing her because they’d never seen someone as pretty as she is. The 28-year-old threatened to spit on the officers, then accused them of being perverts who were trying to take advantage of her because they’d never seen anybody as good-looking as she is.
After learning that Bustami had an arrest warrant from the Las Vegas Municipal Court, they proceeded to book her into the Clark County Detention Center. She was later released.
Now Bustami faces a far more serious charge. She was arrested on Oct. 26, 2022 for the murder of her mother.
Las Vegas police were called to a private residence in a south valley neighborhood of Las Vegas at 2:30 a.m. on Oct. 26, reported KTLA. Someone had reported an injury, and they arrived to find the body of Bustami’s mother. She was unresponsive and had suffered from multiple lacerations. After attempts to revive her failed, she was pronounced dead on the scene.
The Sacramento Bee stated that the murder happened after Bustami got in a verbal fight with her mother. She then allegedly stabbed her 62-year-old mother to death. Although she left the scene before police arrived, the California Highway Patrol located and arrested her near Barstow, California.
Andres Moreno, who lived next door to the mother and daughter for two years, told KSNV that police were regularly called to resolve ongoing domestic disputes between the duo. However, Moreno said she didn’t see this coming and that Bustami was never aggressive or mean with anyone in the neighborhood.
Bustami was sent back to Las Vegas to face murder charges.
