A woman in Pennsylvania was killed while shoveling snow in her driveway, and her killer remains at large nearly a decade later.
On Jan. 22, 2014, Louisa Tseng Krenzel was shot multiple times from a distance outside her home in rural Pike Township. Her estranged husband of 10 years, Jules Krenzel, found her frozen body around 8 that evening, according to the Reading Eagle.
The outlet reported Louisa Krenzel, who was originally from Taiwan, suffered gunshot wounds to her torso.
Investigators determined the 48-year-old victim likely died between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m., and several people reported seeing a white pickup truck that appeared to be an older model driving in the area at the time.
The Reading Eagle, citing a protection-from-abuse order issued after a July 2013 domestic incident, reported Louisa Krenzel’s husband was ordered out of the home where the murder occurred. He was also barred from coming to the property, with the exception of custody exchanges involving the former couple’s young son.
Jules Krenzel, then 61, reportedly claimed he and the boy had not been on the property since early the day before the shooting, according to the outlet.
Authorities have never made any arrests in the case. “We have a lot of things we're up against in solving this,” State Police Trooper David Beohm admitted in 2018, WFMZ reported.
The trooper noted one of the biggest challenges in solving the crime was collecting potential evidence, including surveillance video. “This isn't a heavily populated area of Pike Township, not that any of Pike Township is heavily populated, but [it’s a] very sparsely populated area,” Beohm said. “That makes it hard for us [to bang] on doors, stop and ask people if they have video.”
Still, he added, “I always say if it's just a little bit and you don't think it's worthy, call us and let us tell you it's not worthy.”
