A mother in Arizona helped save her 12-year-old daughter from what was sure to be a horrific attack and, with the help of her teenage son, held the criminal until police could arrive.
According to The New York Post, on Aug. 17 at around 3 a.m., the 12-year-old was awakened when registered sex offender Lloyd Beard broke into the family’s home in Pauldon, Arizona. He touched the girl’s face and then got into her bed.
KTAR News reported that the child woke up her mother who then got the offender out of the house by physical force. Beard then allegedly exposed himself and tried to run off. The mother and her teenage son then chased him, caught him, and detained him until authorities arrived.
The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office released a statement that was also posted on their Facebook page to share information about the crime. They said, “When deputies arrived, Beard was laying on the ground with his pants down and had minor injuries from his struggle with the mother. He was medically treated on scene then transported to the hospital.”
“He has been released from the hospital and taken to the Yavapai County jail where he is awaiting booking on numerous counts of Aggravated Assault, Burglary 2nd Degree, Criminal Trespass 1st Degree, Indecent Exposure, Voyeurism, and Disorderly Conduct,” the statement also revealed.
According to records with the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, Beard is a registered sex offender for a crime he committed in Colorado, and he was charged with the offense of Violation of Sex Offender Registration when he failed to register in Arizona as he was required to do.
“The quick action of the mother saved not only her daughter from further trauma but managed to help take a dangerous predator off the streets,” said the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office.
