Around 10 a.m. on Dec. 4, 2022, authorities received a 911 call about human remains that were found along the road near Burge Road and Reyer Road in southern Mississippi. Police then found a dismembered body there inside a plastic tool box, reported the Mississippi Free Press.
Pearl River County investigators were able to confirm the identity of the dismembered body as Seth Coulter Odom, a 24-year-old man from Poplarville, Mississippi. They used social media, public records, jail booking records, and the victim’s tattoo to help make the identification. Nobody had reported the young man as missing.
According to the Sun Herald, Pearl River County Coroner Derek Turnage said, “The medical examiner was able to identify his tattoos after extracting the body.”
Pearl River County Sheriff David Allison stated that this appears to be a homicide. Investigators think the body was dismembered and placed in the box before being dumped along the road. Further details are not going to be released from the coroner’s office right now because of an ongoing investigation.
