UPDATE 2/6/2020:

On Tuesday Orange County Distric Attorney Todd Spitzer announced that his office intended to drop all charges against Grant William Robicheaux and girlfriend Cerissa Riley. Spitzer claims that his predecessor had "manufactured" evidence of their alleged sexual assaults of up to 1,000 women for political purposes, according to Yahoo News.

CNN reports that Spitzer stated, "There is not a single piece of evidence or video or photo that shows an unconscious or incapacitated woman being sexually assaulted. Not one," and that, "Doing justice is not always pretty. It's not pleasant many times. This is not pleasant at all, but these are important decisions that affect people's lives."

In a statement to CNN former DA Tony Rackauckas denies that evidence was "manufactured" and that "I never made a single decision or statement about the case for any political motive," adding, "I just feel terrible for the women who had the courage to come forward and give their evidence to the authorities in this case."

ORIGINAL POST 9/18/2018:

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — An orthopedic surgeon who catered to wealthy and famous patients in Newport Beach, and was once named “Most Eligible Bachelor In Orange County,” has been charged with drugging and raping two women.

Prosecutors say that they believe that there could be many more victims out there.

On the surface, Dr. Grant Robicheaux appeared to be a great catch. He even appeared on the Bravo dating show Online Dating Rituals of the American Male in 2014.

But Orange County prosecutors said on Tuesday that Robicheaux, 38, and his girlfriend, Cerissa Laura Riley, 31, preyed on women they met at bars and music festivals like Burning Man.

Prosecutors said that the couple appears to be “clean-cut, good-looking people,” but after they turned on the charm, they would then turn on their victims by drugging and then raping them.

A 32-year-old victim told investigators that she met the couple at a restaurant in Newport Beach in April 2016. She claimed that after they invited her to a party on a boat, they took her to Robicheaux’s apartment, gave her drugs, and then raped her. She called the police the next day, and a test proved she had multiple controlled substances in her system.

The second victim stated that she was attacked on October 2, 2016, after meeting the couple in a Newport Beach bar. After a night out, she said that she woke up to find both of them sexually assaulting her. She screamed for help and a neighbor called police.

When detectives searched Robicheaux’s home, they found drugs including GHB, MDMA, and cocaine.

Newport Beach Detectives reportedly found a video of the sex acts with one of the two identified victims — and several other photos and videos of “highly intoxicated” and incapacitated victims on the couples’ phones.

The couple now face multiple felony counts including rape by drugs, oral copulation by anesthesia, and assault with intent to commit sexual offenses.

Robicheaux is also accused of possessing illegal firearms including assault rifles.

An online profile describes him as an orthopedic surgeon who received his medical degree from Louisiana State University and did his residency at UC Irvine Medical Center. He was awarded the “Most Eligible Bachelor” title by Orange Coast Magazine in 2013.

The California medical board has reportedly opened an investigation into Robicheaux’s conduct.

Robicheaux and Riley are have been released on $100,000 bail each.

On the Bravo show, Robicheaux made a comment about the type of woman he hoped to find. “I am not looking for a party girl. I am looking for a wife to raise a family with.

Police have urged anyone who believes that they may have been a victim of the couple to contact Supervising Investigator Eric Wiseman at (714) 347-8794.
